Of mists and mellow fruitfulness... What dreams we have and how they fly Like rosy clouds across the sky; (Paul Laurence Dunbar 1872 - 1906) Limousin Laureates is launching this September with a week of inspirational workshops by England’s best loved poet, and Poetry Society president, Roger McGough. This tutored retreat is designed for anyone who loves words. Whether you have published them by the thousands or hardly ever manage to put artistic finger to creative keyboard, this retreat will give you inspiration, clever techniques and the all-important time to express your inner troubadour. The course will be held in a 19th Century manor house in the heart of the medieval, mountain village of Treignac, with inspirational views from the terrace over the Vezere Gorge. The course includes all meals - French breakfast, lunch, dinner with wine and day-long refreshments, transport from nearby airports or stations and of course the workshops. To add extra support, actor and theatre director Dean Sullivan will be on hand with optional tuition in the art of performance. Beginning on Monday 14th September with afternoon tea, dinner and drinks, the course will roll on through the week until Saturday morning. The final evening will present an open reading for all poets in the grand salon. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the local sights, a stroll to the beach or a less taxing seat outside the cafe. Sunday is a free day and transport is on hand to take poets back to airport or station at Limoges on either Sunday 20th or Monday 21st. With excellent food and wine; a beautiful house; a secluded garden; fire-lit evenings; the muse in the misty hills and the company of writers, both great and aspiring - what more could a poet ask...?
