The Programme...

Although everyone thoroughly enjoyed the retreat and found it really worthwhile, some logistical challenges arose meaning that we won’t be repeating the event in this form.  Watch this space for similar events in the future.

One of the outcomes has been a thriving, ongoing poetry get-together in the village.  We are a very small (but select) group who meet to discuss our work and set ourselves tasks for next time.  We look at our favourite poets and talk about what we like most, or perhaps least.

There is no naval gazing and no point-scoring.  We support and help each other when required and keep quiet when not invited to comment.  At least one of last year’s group is joining us in July for a daylong event to give us all a chance to share our new work.

We are currently in discussion with a the owners of a lovely, old French hotel about some sort of poetry retreat next year.  If we feel that their hotel is the right sort of venue then we are really hopeful that Roger will join us again to lead the way.  We have found that the venue is vitally important and that we need to collaborate closely with like-minded hosts to make it work.

We are also talking to Sam, the director of the Treignac Projet, about the potential for a peer-led poetry experience at their contemporary art centre and gallery.

For anyone looking for a mountain getaway to simply immerse themselves in writing, we also have a beautiful 17thC stone farmhouse available to hire.  An established poet and literary professional is to stay here in the Autumn and we hope he will join us in our weekly gatherings (for more details https://www.homeaway.co.uk/p1792283).
